Graduate Student Opportunities
We currently have limited openings for graduate students in our laboratory. Email Dr. Fuess for more information about current opportunities. As a research group at a Federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution we are committed to creating a lab group where all members are welcomed and valued.
We are also enthusiastic about helping prospective graduate students apply for external funding (GRFP, Ford, etc). Interested students should contact Dr. Fuess to discussion application preparation. Our laboratory has an excellent record of success with graduate fellowships including two awards and one honorable mention in the past four years.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Engagement with meaningful research is an essential part of the development of young scientists. We strive to provide opportunities for undergraduates to partake in ongoing research in the lab. Priority is given to those students who can commit multiple semesters to work in the Symbiommunity lab. This allows motivated students the opportunity to move beyond introductory tasks, with the goal of completing a final independent research project. If you are interested in research opportunities, please send Dr. Fuess an email with a brief description of your research interests, why you’d like to do research, and your availability. Undergraduate research positions are currently limited, but offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Postdoctoral Opportunities
We hope to advertise for a new postdoctoral position soon, but currently do not have active funding.
We are happy to help develop grant/fellowship ideas and sponsor NSF, Ford, AAI, and other fellowship applications. Our lab has had great success with postdoctoral fellowship applications, with one successfully funded NSF PRFB in the past four years.
